When Shannon reached out after getting engaged, I just knew this elopement was going to be awesome. She’d been following my work on Instagram, and I’m so glad she trusted me to capture her and Bryan’s intimate celebration. Our first meeting was in November for their engagement session at Balboa Park, and from the moment we started shooting, I could tell this day was going to be packed with hilarious moments and real, raw emotions.
Shannon and Bryan, both parents from previous marriages, were about to embark on a new journey together. With adult children from their past relationships, it was clear that family was at the heart of their union, and they were ready to create something beautiful.
Family Photos at Presidio Park
Their wedding day started at Presidio Park, where Shannon and Bryan were surrounded by their kids for family photos. Shades of blue tied everything together—Shannon’s daughters and Bryan’s son wore different hues, while Bryan looked sharp in a navy suit. Shannon’s pastel bouquet added the perfect pop of color. And despite Bryan’s well-documented dislike of photos, he showed up, put in the effort, and—let’s be honest—looked good doing it. More importantly, he did it for Shannon, and that’s what mattered most.

Bride & Groom Portraits
After family portraits, it was time for Shannon and Bryan to share some private moments together. We stayed at the mission for their bride and groom portraits, where Shannon looked stunning in an off-white, cream dress with a delicate floral and leaf pattern. The fabric shimmered in the soft light, and her smile lit up the space. Bryan looked dashing as ever, his navy blue suit perfectly complementing the scene.
The two of them had such a calm and genuine connection. As a photographer, those moments are so precious to capture—when a couple’s love shines without the need for words.

The Ceremony at Sunset Cliffs: A Coastal Celebration
After portraits, we headed over to Sunset Cliffs for the ceremony. It was such an intimate moment, with just 12 of their closest family members there, making it feel even more special. The ceremony was short, but full of so much emotion.
And then, as if the universe had a plan, a whole parade of well-wishers showed up! Cars driving by honked to congratulate them, and just when we thought it couldn’t get any more fun, a firetruck full of firemen rolled up, cheering and clapping. Shannon and Bryan laughed, and it made the whole moment feel even more unforgettable.

Sunset Photos
After the ceremony, Shannon and Bryan were so relaxed and ready to just enjoy the moment, which made it easy to capture them naturally. Despite the wind and the chill in the air, we kept it short and sweet, but I still got plenty of stunning shots. The backdrop at Sunset Cliffs was beautiful, and even with the weather, their connection made everything feel so natural. It was a perfect moment to capture them in this new chapter of their lives.

The Reception at Casa Guadalajara: Celebrating Love with Family & Friends
After a few more golden hour photos, we headed to the reception at Casa Guadalajara in Old Town San Diego, where Shannon and Bryan were joined by the rest of their family and friends who hadn’t been at the ceremony. The atmosphere was vibrant, with everyone ready to celebrate the couple’s love.
A mariachi band filled the room with energy, margaritas were flowing, and the Mexican food? Chef’s kiss. Every detail was thoughtfully put together, making the whole space feel like a true celebration of Shannon and Bryan’s journey.

Final Thoughts
From our first meeting to the day we spent at Sunset Cliffs, Shannon and Bryan’s elopement was exactly what an intimate celebration should be—full of love, laughter, and those little moments that make life so special. Watching them surrounded by family and joy, it was clear they were meant for each other. I feel so grateful to have been part of such a meaningful day in their lives.
S&B, this is just the (official) beginning of your journey together, and I can’t wait to see all the love that’s ahead for you both!
