Let's start with a riddle...

What do you get when you cross a personal trainer, with a saleswoman, an event coordinator, a dolphin trainer, a cocktail waitress, a left handed creative, a Scorpio, an Enneagram Type 8, an empathic intuitive, and a photographer?

In case you didn't know where that was going, the answer is me. You get me... Jen Bauer!

I started off with landscape photography. I was traveling from National Park to National Park and landscape photography fit in with what I was already doing. I realized very quickly that my passion and experience coaching and training was pretty useless on the giant sequoia trees and setting suns so I made a few changes.

Fast forward and now I shoot portraits, weddings, engagements, families, and events! I love using my personal training knowledge of angles and muscles to flatter you on camera, and my animal training knowledge of operant conditioning to positively reinforce even the tiniest movements that you didn't know you were doing correctly.

Working with me

The most important part of working with me as a photographer is letting go of the person that the world expects you to be. I spent a lot of my life trying to be like someone else or look like someone else, or change for someone else and I am here to tell you... yeah that's cancelled. I am done with those days of my life (finally figured that out) and I want that for my clients as well. Whether you are taking engagement photos, family photos, or headshots, all I ask is that you show up to our session as the truest version of yourself.

When you plan for our shoot together, plan to wear clothes that make you feel comfortable and happy. Plan to style your hair and makeup not to impress me or anyone else, but to impress yourself. Listen, you could be wearing the most expensive, glamorous, and beautiful outfit with the perfect, professionally styled hair and makeup, but if you don't feel like the most authentic version of yourself, guess what... the camera cannot capture it. Plan accordingly.

I love connecting with people and spending time capturing memories. I love expansive landscape photos with tiny humans in the foreground, but I also love the close-up details that, without a photographer, are usually lost over time. I love being the person that can teach you a posing tip that you can use in your future, every day photos. Most importantly, I love bringing joy to people through my camera lens.

I can't wait to meet you.

When I am not taking photos...

(Who are we kidding, I am always taking photos.)

-I explore nature. I love traveling and hiking to see the coolest places this world has to offer. (Click here to read about one of my very first sunrises and see some of the first sunrise photos I took on my camera.)

-I train clients. I am a Master Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor and have been training clients and teaching classes for over 8 years.

-I workout. I love to lift weights. Deadlifts and squats make me happy. Or maybe that's just the exercise endorphins. Either way. Fitness.

-I eat. And I can, more than likely, eat more than you. My favorite meals include pizza and sushi.

-I spend time alone. I am an extroverted introvert. I derive my energy by taking time to myself.

-I hang out with my dog. He is a big German Shepherd who thinks he is the baddest guy out there but really he's the kind of guy who is scared of floating trash bags.

Here is a few photos of me doing these 'said' things above. (If you want to know how to get to any of these places or how what the hike was like, DM me on Instagram and we can chat!)
