Every once in a while, a session comes along that just clicks—the light, the location, the outfits, and the energy of the people all line up in the most magical way. This family session was exactly that.

They were visiting Lake Tahoe from Auburn and wanted a mix of everything that makes this place so special—towering pines, soft meadow grasses, and that glowy golden hour light dancing over the water. We landed on a quiet beach just east of Tahoe City that gave us the perfect blend of forest and lake, and it honestly felt like stepping into a postcard.

Go-With-the-Flow and Full of Love

This family described themselves as easygoing, active, and adventurous, and they weren’t kidding. From the very start, they leaned into the moment—no stress, no fuss, just laughter, play, and connection. Some of the crew were seasoned pros in front of the camera (hello, adorable grandkids!), while others mentioned they don’t typically take many photos, but you’d never know it. Everyone was relaxed, open, and ready to have fun—and that makes all the difference.

And let’s talk about the styling for a second—because WOW. They absolutely nailed it. Soft neutrals paired with pastel greens, blues, tans, and cream tones gave the whole session a timeless, elevated feel. They took my style guide to heart and it seriously showed. I couldn’t have chosen better myself—it complimented the natural beauty of Tahoe so perfectly.

Favorite Moments

There were so many beautiful combos and candid moments throughout our time together, but the ones that stuck with me most were of the girls running through the meadow and climbing up on a picnic bench, full of giggles and energy. The grandparents interacting with the little ones were some of the sweetest, most genuine moments I’ve captured all season. It’s sessions like these that remind me how powerful photos can be—not just for a holiday card, but for telling your family’s story exactly as it is in this chapter.

What made this session stand out wasn’t just the location or the dreamy light (although both were absolute perfection)—it was the people. They were present, connected, and totally themselves. When that happens, the magic kind of takes care of itself.

I’m always grateful to work with families who trust me, who show up ready to enjoy the moment, and who walk away with memories that feel real.
